Upstate New York Antiquing with Studio Hinterland
And last, but not least - #15: Studio Hinterland!
For those seeking to dance in the gap between antique treasures and contemporary design, we love to share our unique perspectives on the art of collecting and creation. Nestled in the heart of the Catskill Mountains at 3107 NY-28 in Shokan, we are Studio Hinterland, a female-owned and operated creative house.
Led by creative director and designer Jennifer Salvemini, our approach to antiquing goes beyond mere collecting (although, we certainly love to collect!). Each expedition to the region's antique shops serves as a journey of discovery, where found objects become muses for our "referentially modern" home goods and furnishings. Our team of skilled artisans—including Alison Zavracky, Barbara Mansfield, Demetria Chappo, Katie Westmoreland, and Nicola Whiteley — draws inspiration from the textures, shapes, and forms discovered in these vintage pieces to create contemporary works that honor the past while embracing the future. We also offer a selection of our favorite antique finds for sale in our showroom.
